A Texas woman is facing charges after allegedly locking a 7-year-old girl in a dog cage as a form of punishment.

Rose Anderson, 55, appeared in a Harris County court on Sunday on charges of unlawful restraint of a child under 17 and injury to a child. Court documents allege that Anderson, who is a relative and the sole caretaker of the victim, restrained the girl with zip ties, duct-taped her mouth shut, and locked her in a dog crate placed under a Christmas tree.

The incident occurred on or around December 13th. Anderson is accused of leaving the child in the cage for several hours without food, water, or access to a bathroom, causing the girl to urinate on herself.

Court documents state that Anderson’s motive was to discipline the girl for her behavior at school. She is also accused of kicking the child while she was confined in the cage.

Anderson was arrested and subsequently posted a $10,000 bond.
