Law enforcement swiftly apprehended Smith on Interstate 24 and Johnson at Nashville International Airport. However, Bailey managed to board a flight back to Houston. Authorities were able to seize the stolen money upon its arrival at Houston Hobby Airport, and Bailey was subsequently arrested.

If convicted, each defendant could face up to 10 years in federal prison and a minimum fine of $250,000.

The case was investigated by the FBI field offices in Nashville and Houston, the Murfreesboro Police Department, and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
