In a move to protect American families from the mounting costs of the Biden administration’s energy policies, Texas Senator Ted Cruz has spearheaded a bipartisan effort to block a Department of Energy (DOE) rule that would effectively ban non-condensing gas furnace models.

This rule, part of a broader campaign against fossil fuels and clean natural gas, would force families to spend thousands of dollars to replace their existing furnaces, further straining household budgets during a time of economic uncertainty.

The Senate has taken a decisive step in supporting Cruz’s resolution, passing it in a bipartisan manner.

Cruz said this rule, proposed and finalized by the Biden administration’s DOE, is part of a broader, radical campaign against vital energy sources that power the American economy and sustain American households.

In a speech on the Senate floor last week, Cruz condemned the Biden administration’s energy policies, highlighting the administration’s actions to halt drilling onshore and offshore, shut down the Keystone pipeline, and impose restrictions on natural gas production.

The Senator argued that these measures have contributed to the cost-of-living crisis faced by many Americans, and he has introduced the Congressional Review Act resolution to alleviate the “unending assault on American families” from the Democrats’ radical energy agenda.

Cruz’s fight against the DOE rule is part of a broader effort to push back against regulatory overreach that threatens the well-being of American families. Earlier this year, the Senator joined forces with Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) to send a joint oversight letter to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), urging the agency to refrain from heavily regulating or banning gas stoves over safety concerns.

Additionally, Cruz and Manchin introduced the bipartisan Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act, which would block the CPSC from banning gas stoves.
