The House of Representatives had already passed the Israel Security Assistance Support Act, a critical piece of legislation that would have compelled the Biden administration to uphold its legal obligation to deliver congressionally appropriated weapons to Israel.
This support was essential as the Jewish state fought to eradicate the terrorist organization Hamas, which has long posed a threat to its security and stability.
However, when U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) sought to pass this bill in the Senate, his Democratic colleagues resoundingly rejected it.

“Senate Democrats just showed they are wholly supportive of the Biden administration’s pro-Hamas, anti-Israel agenda. From the very first days of the administration, Biden has poured hundreds of millions of dollars of aid into the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, despite knowing and confirming that the aid would go to Hamas,” Cruz said Thursday.
“Since the opening minutes of October 7, he has pressured and undermined Israel, and tried to force our Israeli allies into a ceasefire that leaves Hamas intact. The Gaza Pier exemplifies this backward upside-down policy, endangering American and Israeli troops in order to deliver aid that is hijacked by Hamas. Senate Democrats just showed they completely agree with and support that appalling policy,” Cruz said.
Historically, the United States has maintained a strong, bipartisan commitment to supporting Israel, recognizing the strategic importance of this alliance and the shared values that bind the two nations.
From the Truman administration’s recognition of the State of Israel in 1948 to the unwavering military and diplomatic support provided by successive administrations, the U.S.-Israel relationship has been a cornerstone of American foreign policy.

The current Democratic leadership’s departure from this longstanding tradition is not only a profound disappointment but also a concerning shift that threatens to jeopardize the stability and security of the entire Middle East region, Cruz argues.
Israel, as the only democratic and reliable US ally in the Middle East, has long been a bulwark against the forces of extremism and instability that threaten the region.
Cruz argues that by undermining Israel’s security and aligning themselves with the interests of Hamas, the Democrats have not only betrayed a longstanding strategic partnership but have also abandoned the moral imperative to stand with a fellow democracy in the face of existential threats.
