In a scathing rebuke, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) has lambasted the Biden administration’s latest executive order on immigration, describing it as a mere “shell game” and a transparent political maneuver aimed at shoring up the President’s sinking approval ratings.

Joined by his Texas colleague, Senator Ted Cruz, and a group of fellow Republican senators, Cornyn minced no words in accusing the White House of lacking any genuine commitment to securing the nation’s borders.

The veteran Texas senator dismissed the executive order as mere “political cover,” arguing that the Biden White House is more concerned with optics and poll numbers than substantive policymaking.

“This is a conversion based on the proximity of the next election and sinking poll numbers,” Cornyn declared, underscoring his belief that the American people will not be fooled by such transparent political maneuvering.

Cornyn emphasized that the fundamental difference between the current and previous administrations lies not in the laws themselves, but in the “unwillingness of this White House and this administration simply to enforce the law.”

He argued that the Biden team’s reluctance to uphold existing immigration statutes has exacerbated the crisis at the southern border, leading to a surge in illegal crossings and overwhelming local communities.

The senator’s scathing critique of the Biden administration’s immigration policies was not limited to the executive order alone. Cornyn called for a comprehensive approach to border security, one that goes beyond symbolic gestures and demonstrates a genuine commitment to enforcing the law and protecting the nation’s interests.

“The simple fact of the matter is that the same laws that were in effect back when President Trump was in office are still in effect, but the difference is the unwillingness of this White House and this administration simply to enforce the law,” he asserted.

Senator Ted Cruz, Cornyn’s fellow Texan, echoed his colleague’s concerns, lambasting the Biden administration’s “failure to secure the border.” Cruz joined Cornyn in denouncing the executive order as a political ploy, arguing that it fails to address the root causes of the ongoing immigration crisis.

Cornyn and Cruz’s criticisms were not limited to their Republican colleagues; they were joined by a group of Senate Republicans who shared their concerns about the Biden administration’s handling of immigration. This bipartisan opposition underscores the deep-seated frustration with the White House’s perceived inaction and political posturing on a issue of critical importance to the nation.

The senators’ scathing rebuke of the Biden administration’s immigration policies could have significant implications for the upcoming midterm elections.

With the border crisis continuing to dominate the national discourse, Cornyn and his colleagues’ vocal criticism of the White House’s approach may resonate with voters and shape the political landscape in the months ahead.
