Sen. Ted Cruz on Monday slammed the Biden administration for directing national security officials not to hurt the feelings of murderous terrorists.
The Texas Republican was reacting to a recent Daily Wire report about an internal newsletter circulated by President Joe Biden’s chief intelligence agency.
The newsletter, called “The Dive,” discussed the use of “problematic phrases” when talking about Islamic terrorists and foreign adversaries such as China, the Daily Wire reported.

The article was penned and issued by “diversity, equity, and inclusion officials” inside the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
As the DW reported, the article was sent to the CIA, NSA, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, the Justice Department and intelligence sections within the Pentagon.
The intelligence community needs to focus on “changing terminology related to counterterrorism,” because “words matter,” the article argued.
“This article is about one of our goals: disentangling Islam from words and phrases used to discuss terrorism and extremist violence,” it continued.
“The article declares that it’s trying to remove ‘certain phrases to identify international terrorism threats that are hurtful to Muslim-Americans,’” Daily Wire reported.

According to the actual Biden administration article, “Some of the problematic phrases include, but are not limited to: ‘Salafi-Jihadist,’ ‘Jihadist,’ ‘Islamic-Extremist,’ ‘Sunni/Shia-Extremism,’ and ‘Radical Islamists.’”
Words, the piece added, “have a direct impact on everything we do in our daily life, including our work.”
“We ask that employees spread awareness about the concern of the terminology we are seeing and utilize the substitute terms recommended to ensure we are inclusive, accurate, and sensitive,” it stated.
That was too much for Cruz.
“On one level you say, ‘OK, this sort of language political correctness stuff, it’s silly.’ But in this instance, it’s much worse than silly. It is dangerous,” Cruz said on his podcast, according to the Daily Wire.
“If the intelligence community … refuses to acknowledge what is actually happening, it means they will be utterly ineffective in fighting against it and keeping Americans and our allies safe,” he continued.

“This is continuing the path of putting politics above national security that we saw when Barack Obama was president,” Cruz argued. “When Barack Obama was president, I actually chaired a hearing that examined the purge – that the Obama White House insisted DHS to remove from their records any reference to radical Islamic terrorism, or Islam, or Muslim, or jihadist.”
“October 7 was carried out by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad,” Cruz continued.
“Apparently, that is an inconvenient fact to the language commissars, who I presume want to edit out the word Islamic from the name of the terrorist group, Palestinian Islamic Jihad.”
