Texas Man Killed In Florida Crash When Clearwater Man Makes Improper Lane Change

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A 39-year-old Texas man was killed in a crash that happened around 1:37 pm Thursday in Pinellas County, Florida.

Troopers say a Chevy Tahoe, driven by a 21-year-old Clearwater man, was traveling northbound in the outside lane of East Lake Road.

South of Eagle Cove Boulevard, the Clearwater man made an improper lane change in an attempt to avoid stopped traffic, and the left side of his Chevy collided with the right side of a Camaro driven by the Texas man.

Troopers say the Camaro traveled into the southbound lanes of East Lake Road, where it was struck by an Expedition and then a Hummer. 

The driver of the Camaro from San Antonio, Texas, was transported to an area hospital but died from injuries suffered in the crash.

All others involved suffered only minor injuries.
