A Texas man, Bryan Douglas Conley, age 42, was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison today for committing 14 criminal offenses, including kidnapping and transportation of a minor across state lines for illegal sexual activity.

U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett of the Western District of Kentucky and Special Agent in Charge Michael E. Stansbury of the FBI Louisville Field Office announced the sentencing.

The severe penalty reflects the serious nature of Conley’s crimes, including kidnapping an adult and a minor he lured through an online dating service.

“The lengthy sentence imposed by the Court reflects the outrageousness of the defendant’s criminal conduct toward the victims in this case and ensures he will not re-offend for decades to come,” stated U.S. Attorney Bennett.

Special Agent in Charge Stansbury emphasized the dangers of online interaction, noting, “The victims in this case never thought using an online dating service would subject them to the type of horrendous actions that this defendant inflicted upon them.”

Court documents reveal that in November 2018, Conley used a false profile to entice a minor from Ohio to Tennessee for sexual purposes. He abandoned the minor in Texas days later, stealing her belongings. In January 2019, Conley deceived another victim, an adult, pretending to be a modeling agent. He subsequently kidnapped her, issued ransom demands, and engaged in further fraudulent activities.

Conley’s criminal activities culminated in his arrest in January 2019 after retrieving a ransom placed by the FBI. He was initially released but fled after removing his ankle monitor, leading to another arrest in Ohio.

The collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, Texas Department of Public Safety, Brentwood Tennessee Police Department, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, were crucial in bringing Conley to justice, reflecting a committed interagency approach to combating such severe crimes.
