A Houston man has been sentenced to over 20 years in federal prison for his involvement in a string of violent jewelry store robberies, including one in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Trevione James Terry, 26, received a 241-month sentence followed by 5 years of supervised release from United States District Judge James D. Cain, Jr.

Terry pleaded guilty in July to charges of interference with commerce by robbery and using, carrying, and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

These charges stemmed from his participation in two robberies: one at Korman Fine Jewelry in Austin, Texas, on May 7, 2020, and another at Nederland Jewelers in Lake Charles on June 8, 2020.

In the Austin robbery, Terry acted as the getaway driver while his accomplices stormed the store, brandishing firearms and assaulting a security guard and a customer. They made off with several Rolex watches. Phone records and cell data placed Terry at the scene, linking him to the crime.

Just a month later, Terry and a group of six others targeted Nederland Jewelers in Lake Charles. While one of the robbers held employees at gunpoint, Terry and others, armed with hammers, smashed display cases and stole over 34 Rolex watches worth an estimated $350,000.

Following the Lake Charles robbery, law enforcement tracked the suspects to a residence. Terry and another suspect were found hiding in a shed with a backpack containing most of the stolen watches. Other accomplices were apprehended nearby.

This sentencing concludes the prosecution of all individuals involved in these brazen robberies. Terry’s 20-year sentence reflects the severity of the crimes, which involved violence, firearms, and significant financial loss.
