A 45-year-old Texas man was arrested Sunday for battery on a law enforcement officer following a traffic stop.

Deputies say Chad Neal McDonald, 45, of Waxahachie, Texas, was also charged with possession of 1.1 grams of methamphetamine, possession of 5.5 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to investigators, McDonald was stopped on U.S. 1 in Marathon at approximately 1:34 a.m. in a Dodge pickup truck pulling a boat trailer with no license plate or functioning tail lights.

There was an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and glass pipes in plain view. The drugs and paraphernalia were subsequently found.

McDonald kicked Deputies, attempted to grab a Deputy’s firearm from its holster, and pulled away from Deputies while they were attempting to arrest him.

McDonald was booked into the Monroe County jail on a $52,000 bond.
