Following last month’s murder of a New York City cop by a career thug, a Texas lawmaker is encouraging the Big Apple’s finest to consider relocating to the Lone Star State.
GOP Rep. Beth Van Duyne plans to publish a full-page ad in The New York Post on Tuesday that encourages law enforcement officers “to escape New York and move to Texas,” according to The Washington Times.
“Sadly, the corrupt and crumbling Empire State is so purposefully anti-law and order that you should no longer put your careers and lives in the hands of politicians who couldn’t care less about you or your families,” Van Duyne’s ad says, the Times reports.
According to the Times, Van Duyne’s ad argues that Texas seeks good police officers to fill its ranks and calls the recent murder of NYPD officer Johnathan Diller an “utterly tragic loss.” Diller’s accused killer is a career criminal who had 21 prior arrests.
In an interview on Monday, she told the Times, “Every New York Republican understands these courageous officers are put in impossible, life-threatening circumstances, and I’m sure they want what is best for them — which may be to relocate to a law and order state like Texas.”
“The vast majority of [Democratic representatives] from New York City are part of the defund the police, soft on crime, mass illegal immigration crowd who couldn’t care less about the lives and families of these brave officers.”
The Times noted that Van Duyne’s ad also recalls two NYPD officers who were assaulted and beaten in February by a gang of illegal immigrants, who were almost immediately released.

“You’re a punching bag for these anarchists to use to satisfy their extremist base,” the ad maintains. “Your lives don’t have to be endangered by violent career criminals who are never locked away.”
“You don’t have to be beaten on the streets by gangs of illegal immigrant criminals.”
“It’s time for you to leave these loathsome and destructive fools behind,” the ad also says. “ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK.”
Newsmax, which also reported on Van Duyne’s pitch, noted that the ad also advises NYC cops: “Join us in the Lone Star State where we revere and respect our law enforcement officers. Our cost of living is lower. Our quality of life is better. And Texans embrace, support, and love the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our families, businesses, and communities.”
“Y’all have a home waiting for you here in Texas.”
