The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) apprehended a group of 30 illegal immigrants in Maverick County Sunday, including three unaccompanied minors and three individuals from “special interest” countries, Iran and Angola.

“Special interest” refers to nations that may pose a national security threat to the U.S., potentially including terrorist ties.

Additionally, the Texas National Guard successfully prevented 45 illegal immigrants from crossing the Rio Grande River, leading to their apprehension by Mexican immigration authorities.

The DPS frequently encounters illegal immigrants, including unaccompanied minors and individuals from special interest countries. Last week, a similar group was intercepted, including 32 unaccompanied minors.

Critics argue that the federal government has neglected its constitutional duty under Article IV, Section 4, to protect the country from invasion. This provision states that the U.S. must protect states against foreign threats and domestic violence.

Texas DPS has played a key role in border security, particularly under Operation Lone Star, which was launched by Governor Greg Abbott in 2021. The operation has been instrumental in intercepting illegal crossings, smugglers, and drug trafficking along the border.

An estimated 15 million illegal immigrants have entered the U.S. under the Biden-Harris administration. While some media outlets downplay this reality, alternative sources like TGP continue to report on the border crisis.
