Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett baselessly told “The View” co-hosts Wednesday that President Donald Trump has record-high approval ratings because Americans just are not educated enough to dislike him.
Trump currently holds a record-high approval rating of 53%, as a high number of Americans believe he is fulfilling his campaign promises, according to a CBS News/YouGov poll from Feb. 9. Crockett, who is known for loudly screaming at her colleagues on the House floor, said with a straight face that there should not be a “loud” and so-called “ridiculous” person sitting in the Oval Office.

“My takeaway is just like the election, we’ve got to do better at education,” Crockett said. “People don’t understand, but you will understand when those hospitals in rural America start closing down even more, you will understand when you don’t have your Social Security, you will understand your Medicaid, your Medicare goes away, you will understand when planes continue to fall out of the sky. Soon you will understand that it is important to have somebody who isn’t loud and ridiculous and maybe Sleepy Joe is what we wanted because we could at least sleep at night.”
Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity Tuesday night that any cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are off the table.
Without evidence, Crockett accused the president of allowing more plane crashes to occur following a deadly collision near Reagan National Airport that left 67 people dead. The airport has faced several near misses between aircrafts over the last few decades, which the Federal Aviation Agency has done little to solve.

A majority of Americans, 70%, believe Trump is upholding his campaign promises as of February 2025, a large bump from the 46% who made the same claim in the first few months of the president’s first term in 2017. On his first day in office, Trump signed an executive order declaring a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border and has directed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to carry out mass deportations, which he repeatedly promised on the campaign trail.
Trump further promised to establish the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to eliminate government spending during his campaign. DOGE reported Monday that it saved the federal government $55 billion and fired more than 10,000 government employees.

The president further changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America,” and began talking to Russian President Vladimir Putin about peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. As the president promised, he further imposed tariffs on Canada and Mexico, which were later postponed, in order to make both of the nations implement stricter immigration and border policies.
Trump also signed an executive order directing the federal government to only recognize two sexes, male and female, and signed a separate order banning men from competing in women’s sports.
