Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against a North Texas doctor for allegedly violating state law by administering prohibited “gender transition” treatments to nearly two dozen minors.
The lawsuit follows the implementation of Senate Bill 14, a law that took effect in September 2023. SB14, which was upheld by the Texas Supreme Court in June 2024, bans medical interventions for minors related to “gender transitions,” including surgeries, puberty blockers, and cross-sex hormones.

According to growing scientific evidence cited by the state, these treatments can have long-term, harmful effects on children and are considered experimental, with no proven medical benefits.
Texas law mandates that the Texas Medical Board revoke the medical license of any physician who violates the provisions of SB14.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the doctor in question, based in the Dallas area, allegedly provided high-dose cross-sex hormones to 21 minors as part of their gender transition treatment. The doctor is also accused of using false diagnoses and billing codes to conceal these treatments.

“Texas passed a law to protect children from these dangerous unscientific medical interventions that have irreversible and damaging effects,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Doctors who continue to provide these harmful ‘gender transition’ drugs and treatments will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
