U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn has demanded answers from the Biden administration regarding the release of eight Tajikistani nationals with alleged ties to the terrorist organization ISIS.
As the Tampa Free Press reported, these individuals reportedly crossed the southern border illegally and were subsequently apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), despite allegedly passing through the initial screening process conducted by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) with clean criminal background checks.
In a strongly worded letter, Senator Blackburn has expressed deep concerns about the national security threats posed by the Biden administration’s “open border policies.”

She has called on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray to provide a full accounting of the circumstances surrounding the release and subsequent arrest of these suspected terrorists.
Blackburn has highlighted the troubling revelation that these individuals, despite being “fully vetted” by border officials, were later found to have ties to the Islamic State (ISIS).
She has emphasized that these incidents are not isolated, citing the alarming increase in the number of migrants on the terrorist watchlist encountered by CBP since the start of the Biden administration.
Blackburn has lamented that her previous calls for the administration to take these national security threats seriously have fallen on deaf ears. She has expressed concern that the Biden administration has failed to address the growing threat, leaving American communities vulnerable to potential terrorist activities.

According to Blackburn’s letter, since President Biden took office, CBP has encountered 362 migrants on the terrorist watchlist, a significant increase compared to just 11 under the Trump administration. This stark contrast highlights the growing concerns about the administration’s approach to border security and its potential impact on national security.
Blackburn has accused the Biden administration of refusing to take these national security threats at the border seriously, despite the alarming rise in terrorist apprehensions. She has emphasized that the American people deserve to feel safe from such threats within their own country.
The senator’s letter comes on the heels of a recent report from the DHS Office of Inspector General (OIG), which urged the department to improve its screening and vetting procedures for those seeking entry into the United States. Blackburn has seized on this report to further underscore the need for the administration to address the vulnerabilities in the current system.

The release of these suspected terrorists into the United States has raised serious concerns about the potential threat to national security. Blackburn has emphasized that the American people deserve to know the full extent of the danger posed by these individuals and the administration’s response to mitigate such risks.
