Despite initial efforts, the case remained unsolved for over a decade. However, continued investigative work by TBI special agents ultimately pointed to David Weaver as the individual responsible for Dean’s death.
On January 6th, 2025, a Hardeman County Grand Jury indicted Weaver on one count of first-degree murder. Two days later, U.S. Marshals arrested Weaver, and he was booked into the Hardeman County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
The investigation spanned over a decade and involved extensive collaboration between the TBI, the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office, and the 25th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office.
