TAMPA, Fla. – A teenage girl was injured in a shooting incident during New Year’s Eve celebrations in downtown Tampa, marring the festivities and prompting a police investigation.
Shortly after 1:00 AM on Wednesday, Tampa police officers patrolling the downtown area as part of their New Year’s Eve operation discovered a shooting victim near the intersection of North Tampa Street and East Cass Street. The victim, a girl in her mid-teens, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. While the investigation is still in its early stages, police believe this incident is not connected to a previous shooting that occurred earlier in the evening.
The Tampa Police Department is urging anyone with information or video footage related to the shooting to come forward.
