Teen Arrested In Pasco County For First-Degree Murder In Fatal Tampa Shooting

TAMPA, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has charged a 19-year-old man with first-degree murder following a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning at a Tampa apartment complex, leaving an adult male deceased.

According to HCSO, deputies responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment complex located at 12401 Orange Grove Drive at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2025.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to AdventHealth Carrollwood Hospital, where he later died.

Through investigative efforts, detectives identified Jesiah Deangelo-Cruz, 19, as a suspect. On the same day, April 20, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Deangelo-Cruz in connection with a separate domestic violence incident.

He was charged at that time with Armed Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, and Battery (Second/Subsequent Offense). With the assistance of the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Deangelo-Cruz was located and arrested in Pasco County, Florida.

As the investigation into the fatal shooting continued, detectives recovered additional evidence linking Deangelo-Cruz to the incident on Orange Grove Drive.

Based on this evidence, investigators obtained a second arrest warrant on Sunday, April 21, charging Deangelo-Cruz with Premeditated First-Degree Murder with a Firearm in connection with the fatal shooting.

Deangelo-Cruz is currently being held in the Pasco County Jail, awaiting extradition back to Hillsborough County to face the murder charge.

“This suspect made a devastating and violent choice that took an innocent life. Thanks to the determined efforts of our detectives, he is now charged and will face the full consequences of his actions,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We hope this brings comfort to the victim’s loved ones, and we will continue working closely with our partners to ensure the suspect is held fully accountable.”
