Teen Arrested For Attempted Burglary In July Case Of Ding-Dong-Ditch In Spring Hill

SPRING HILL, Fla. – Spring Hill teen is facing burglary charges after he was caught on video kicking in a neighbor’s door while playing “ding-dong ditch.”

On July 5th, 2024, Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported attempted burglary on Landover Boulevard in Spring Hill. Home security footage showed two young males trying to enter the house, with one of them kicking and damaging the door before running away.

The suspect who kicked the door was identified as 16-year-old Bruce Meglio.

After being advised of his rights, Meglio admitted to kicking the door while playing “Ding-Dong Ditch” with a friend. He lives near the location of the incident.

Meglio was arrested and charged Friday with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling. He was released to his parents with a home detention order from the Department of Juvenile Justice.
