TROY, MI – A targeted shooting at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital early this morning resulted in one person injured and the swift arrest of the suspect.
At 7:08 a.m., Troy Police Department dispatch received a call from hospital security reporting an “active shooter” in the parking garage. This was quickly followed by an update that a victim was being treated near the emergency entrance. The hospital was immediately placed on lockdown, and nearby schools and daycares were notified to initiate a soft lockdown.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene, and a thorough search and clearing of the hospital and its grounds commenced.
As the investigation unfolded, it became clear that the incident was targeted and involved two hospital employees. The 25-year-old victim, from Troy, had just pulled into the parking garage when the suspect arrived shortly after. The suspect fired at least five shots from a handgun, striking the victim twice in the arm and hitting the victim’s vehicle.
Simultaneously, investigators tracked the suspect to a residence in Macomb Township. With the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office leading the operation, the suspect was taken into custody without incident shortly after 9:30 a.m. The suspect voluntarily exited his home after being contacted by cell phone.
“We would like to thank all of the agencies who responded and assisted with this major response today,” stated the Troy Police Department.
