A Minnesota county board candidate’s bid for office took a hairy turn last week after she was arrested for allegedly throwing a tarantula at her roommate.

Marisa Simonetti, 30, is facing assault charges after her housemate, Jackie Vasquez, reported the incident to police. Vasquez claims Simonetti hurled the live spider during a heated argument, along with other unspecified objects.

Simonetti reportedly admitted to the act, explaining to local news outlets that she was inspired by the infamous “Home Alone” scene and hoped to scare Vasquez into moving out. She even described the incident as having an “element of humor.”

The bizarre eviction tactic has overshadowed Simonetti’s campaign, which focused on family values and responsible leadership.

Police are investigating the incident, and Vasquez has reportedly vacated the residence.

Simonetti was released from custody and is facing two misdemeanor charges.

One thing’s for sure: this candidate’s political future seems to be hanging by a very thin thread.
