TAMPA, FL. – Two people were injured, one seriously, in a wrong-way crash that happened early Friday morning.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, around 3:18 am., a 55-year-old Tampa woman was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-275, near Busch Boulevard, and collided nearly head-on with a pickup truck, which was traveling northbound on I-275.

Troopers say that both vehicles rotated and came to a stop in the travel lanes of I-275 which remained closed until 5:20 am. Friday.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 42-year-old man from Tampa, suffered only minor injuries.

The wrong-way driver suffered serious injuries in the crash. Troopers say that drug and alcohol impairment is suspected on the part of the Tampa woman.
