LARGO, Fla. – A 72-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Ulmerton Road in Largo on New Year’s Day.
The incident occurred around 6:40 PM near the intersection of 34th Street North. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 60-year-old woman from Tampa was driving a Mazda CX-9 eastbound on Ulmerton Road when the pedestrian stepped into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.

The pedestrian, a Largo resident, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Mazda remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
