TAMPA, Fla. – Motorists in Tampa should be aware of upcoming nightly closures of the westbound I-4 entrance ramp to northbound I-275.
The closures will take place on Sunday and Monday nights (August 18th and 19th) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.
Detour:
Drivers will need to follow a detour route during these closures:
- Continue west on I-4
- Exit using Exit 45A (Downtown East/West)
- Keep left at the fork toward Downtown East
- Continue south on Orange Avenue
- Turn left onto Cass Street
- Turn left onto Cass Orange Connector
- Continue north to re-enter northbound I-275
Reason for Closure:
The closures are necessary for crews to perform overhead bridge work as part of the ongoing Downtown Tampa Interchange Safety and Operational Improvements project.
Important Notes:
- Advanced warning signs and electronic message boards will be in place to guide drivers.
- Motorists should exercise caution and be alert for construction workers in the work zone.
- The overall project is expected to be completed in 2027.
