Tampa Traffic: Full Closures Of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Over I-75 Scheduled This Week

TAMPA, Fla. – Motorists should prepare for nighttime full closures of SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) over I-75 between Falkenburg Road and Williams Road.

The closures will occur nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, December 15, through Wednesday, December 18, weather permitting.

Detour Routes and Traffic Adjustments

Electronic message boards and temporary signage will guide drivers along the posted detour routes, which include US 301, I-4, and Mango Road.

  • For southbound I-75 drivers needing access to SR 574:
    Exit the interstate using Exit 257 and continue west onto SR 60 (Adamo Drive), north onto US 301, or east onto SR 60 (Brandon Boulevard), then north onto Lakewood Drive toward SR 574.
  • For northbound I-75 drivers needing access to SR 574:
    Proceed toward I-4 (Exit 261). From I-4, continue west toward Exit 7, then head south onto US 301, or go east toward Exit 10 and south onto Mango Road.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution while traveling through the work zone and stay alert for construction workers in the area.

The closures are part of ongoing interchange modifications on I-75 from SR 574 to I-4 in Hillsborough County. Construction activities are projected to be completed by the summer of 2025.
