TAMPA, Fla. – Commuters in downtown Tampa will face detours starting late this morning as a portion of North Franklin Street is closed for emergency water main repairs.

The Tampa Water Department announced that beginning at 11:00 AM today, Tuesday, April 15th, all lanes of North Franklin Street will be shut down between East Zack Street and East Polk Street. The closure is necessary for crews to safely access and repair a broken water main in the area.

Officials have stated that barricades and signage will be erected to direct traffic around the work zone. Drivers are strongly advised to exercise caution when traveling near the affected area, anticipate potential delays, and consider using alternate routes.

The repair work is expected to continue for several days. The Tampa Water Department anticipates completing the repairs and fully reopening the street to normal traffic patterns by 5:00 PM on Friday, April 18th.
