TAMPA, Fla. – Drivers of West Cypress Street should prepare for daily delays starting this morning as city crews undertake water system maintenance.
The Tampa Water Department announced that the outside westbound lane of West Cypress Street, specifically between North Obrien Street and North Rushing Street, will shut down at 9 a.m. today, April 24.

The closure, necessary for crews to work on the underground water distribution system, is scheduled to be in effect from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Barricades and signs will be positioned to guide drivers through the reduced lane area.
Work is currently slated to wrap up and normal traffic flow restored by 4 p.m. on Monday, April 28. However, Water Department officials cautioned that the schedule is dependent on weather conditions and that modifications to the lane closure might occur.
