TAMPA, Fla. – Commuters in Tampa should be aware of a lane closure on South Himes Avenue starting today, February 27, 2025, as the Tampa Water Department conducts essential maintenance on the water distribution system.
Beginning at 9:00 a.m., the southbound lane of South Himes Avenue will be closed between West Everett Avenue and West Van Buren Drive. The closure will remain in effect from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday. The lane will be reopened during weekend hours.

The Tampa Water Department has deployed barricades and flaggers to assist with traffic flow and rerouting in the affected area.
Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes and exercise caution when traveling in the vicinity.
The maintenance work is expected to be completed and normal traffic patterns restored by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. However, the schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions.
