Rapper Julio Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones II, was shot and killed in Tampa, Florida, on June 23, 2023. Despite ongoing investigations, no arrests have been made and the Tampa Police Department is still searching for the suspect.
Foolio was celebrating his 26th birthday when he was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn. His attorney, Lewis Fusco, stated that Foolio was “ambushed.”
Reports indicate that Foolio may have been followed after his initial location, an Airbnb, became overcrowded and he was asked to leave.

While a motive remains unclear, authorities suspect the shooting may be linked to gang rivalries. Foolio belonged to the Jacksonville-based group KTA, which has a long-standing feud with ATK, another Jacksonville group.
The Investigation Continues
The Tampa Police Department is reviewing surveillance footage from the hotel and surrounding area. They are also asking for anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
Foolio’s death sparked an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow musicians. The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing gun violence plaguing many communities.
