TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Police are searching for a suspect that hit an adult make pedestrian and then fled the scene.
Officers responded to the scene at 3001 W Dr Martin Luther King Blvd in reference to a hit-and-run traffic crash involving an adult male pedestrian.
Lifesaving measures were performed, and the victim was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital with significant injuries but expected to survive.

The suspect fled the scene and has been identified as Samuel Gavin Leppert. The search for the suspect is still ongoing, and there are no current threats to the community.
Westbound Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd and Gomez Avenue are currently closed because of this incident and are expected to remain closed until the investigation concludes.
