TAMPA, Fla. – A Tampa Police officer responding to an emergency call was involved in a collision with a civilian vehicle this afternoon.
The crash occurred around 2:23 p.m. at the intersection of Woodlawn Avenue and Tampa Street. The officer, who was traveling westbound on Woodlawn with lights and sirens activated, collided with a southbound gray SUV. The impact caused the SUV to overturn.

Fortunately, both the officer and the female driver of the SUV only sustained minor injuries. As a precaution, both were transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The intersection of Woodlawn and Tampa is expected to reopen within the hour. The Tampa Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
