TAMPA, Fla. – A seemingly routine dog adoption in Tampa turned violent Saturday afternoon between two women, and a disagreement escalated to the point where a firearm was brandished.

Around noon on Saturday, Tampa police responded to a call about an aggravated assault between two women in the 1900 block of Meadowbrook Ave. Initial findings indicate the altercation stemmed from a disagreement during a dog adoption process.

The situation escalated, and one of the women reportedly brandished a firearm. Officers took statements from both individuals involved and witnesses at the scene. However, their accounts of the events leading up to the incident were conflicting.

The firearm used in the altercation was confiscated as evidence. The Tampa Police Department and the State Attorney’s Office are currently investigating to determine the appropriate charges.
