Tampa, FL – A 15-year-old Plant High School student was arrested on March 24, 2025, after posting a threat to “shoot up” her school on social media, the Tampa Police Department announced.

Rilyn Notbohm was taken into custody at approximately 11:00 p.m. after detectives investigated a post she made earlier that day stating, “That’s it, I’m shooting my school up.”

During questioning, Notbohm admitted to making the post and told detectives that she was upset about a dispute with a friend.

She has been charged with one felony count of written or electronic threat to conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism.

Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw issued a strong warning regarding the seriousness of such threats.

“Anyone who thinks making a ‘joke’ about shooting up a school is harmless is gravely mistaken,” said Chief Bercaw. “We take the safety of our students and staff extremely seriously. I want to thank the community for promptly reporting threats and working with our dedicated officers and detectives to help keep our children safe.”
