TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early Tuesday morning.
The crash happened around 2:55 a.m. near the intersection of North Orient Road and East 8th Avenue. The victim, an adult black male in his early 40s, was struck by a vehicle while walking and died from his injuries.
Investigators quickly gathered surveillance footage of the suspect vehicle and shared it with the public, generating crucial tips. They also recovered vehicle parts at the scene, identifying the suspect vehicle as a 2014 Nissan Titan pickup truck.

Following up on leads, detectives located the truck at a residence on Summersun Court. The vehicle had damage consistent with the crash, and the recovered parts matched missing components from the truck.
The owner of the vehicle, Manuel Gonzalez, 41, was identified as the driver. Witnesses reported seeing him return home in the early morning hours with damage to his truck.
Gonzalez was arrested at his home Tuesday night and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash Resulting in Death. He was booked into the Orient Road Jail, and his Nissan Titan was impounded as evidence.
