Tampa Police Arrest Burglary Suspect After High-Speed Chase And Crash

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Police have arrested a burglary suspect following a high-speed chase and crash early this morning.

At approximately 6:54 a.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at 3222 N. 40th Street. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle at a high rate of speed without headlights. Officers pursued the vehicle but lost sight of it.  

Shortly after, the suspect vehicle crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of N. 34th Street and E. 18th Avenue. The suspect was transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and was also transported to a hospital.

The intersection of N. 34th Street and E. 18th Avenue was temporarily closed for the investigation but has since reopened. The burglary suspect has been released from the hospital and transported to the Hillsborough County Jail.

The suspect’s name has not been released at this time. We will update this story as more information is released.
