Following a thorough investigation, including the Medical Examiner’s report, the cause of death has been determined to be suicide.
“As a general practice, the Tampa Police Department does not issue a news release relating to suicide investigations to avoid causing additional distress to the families of those affected. However, due to misinformation circulating online relating to this specific investigation, it is necessary to provide accurate information and address the harmful impact that can result from those posting unsubstantiated speculation,” said a Tampa Police Department spokesperson.
The Tampa Police Department extends its condolences to Mederos’ family and friends.
