Tampa Offers Free Uber Rides To Help Residents Access Post-Hurricane Support

TAMPA, Fla. – To assist residents impacted by Hurricane Helene, the City of Tampa is providing free Uber vouchers for transportation to and from Comfort Stations. These stations offer essential resources for those recovering from the storm.

Free Rides to Comfort Stations:

The “Tampa Emergency Transportation Service” will provide residents with vouchers covering up to $25 for two round-trip Uber rides to any of the City’s Comfort Stations. This initiative aims to help those who lost access to transportation due to flooding or damage to their vehicles.

Comfort Station Services:

Comfort Stations provide a range of vital services, including:

  • Hot meals and water
  • Mobile laundry and shower facilities
  • Electronic charging stations
  • Assistance with home and business repair permits

Comfort Station Locations:

  • Gandy Civic Association: 4207 West Oklahoma Avenue (Mon-Fri, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Marjorie Park Marina: 97 Columbia Drive (Daily, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • DeSoto Park: 2617 Corrine Street (Daily, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

How to Access the Free Rides:

The program runs through October 25th, 2024. To obtain vouchers, residents can visit Tampa.gov/recoveryrides and follow the instructions. Vouchers are valid for up to four Uber rides (two round trips), with a maximum of $25 per ride.

This transportation assistance program is part of the City of Tampa’s ongoing efforts to support residents in their recovery from Hurricane Helene.
