Tampa Man Killed After Fiery Wrong-Way Crash On I-75 Exit Ramp

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. - A 36-year-old Tampa man has died after a wrong-way crash that happened Friday around 9:53 pm, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A 36-year-old Tampa man has died after a wrong-way crash that happened Friday around 9:53 pm, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say a van was driving southbound on I-75 and exited at MLK JR (SR-574).

According to FHP, the 36-year-old Tampa man was on the same exit ramp but driving the wrong-way northbound and collided head-on with the van.

Troopers say the Tampa man’s car caught fire and partially burned.

Both drivers were transported to area hospitals, where the 36-year-old man died from injuries suffered during the crash.

The driver of the van, a 49-year-old Riverview man, suffered serious injuries in the crash.
