TAMPA, Fla. – Dempsey Emmanuel Gilmore, 33, of Tampa, has been sentenced to six years and five months in federal prison for threatening to kill an Assistant U.S. Attorney.
Gilmore pleaded guilty to the charges on March 29, 2024.
Court documents reveal that Gilmore was found guilty by a federal jury at the Sam M. Gibbons United States Courthouse in Tampa on March 9, 2023. After the verdict was delivered, Gilmore became hostile, rising from his seat and threatening the jury.
After the jurors left the courtroom, Gilmore directed his aggression toward the prosecuting Assistant U.S. Attorney, lunging at her and threatening to kill her. He was quickly restrained by court security personnel and federal agents.
The six-year and five-month sentence will be served consecutively to a previously imposed 30-year sentence, with an additional 24 months to be added.
