Tampa Man Fatally Struck By Tennessee Driver In Pinellas County

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A 66-year-old Tampa man tragically lost his life Monday evening after being struck by a van while attempting to cross a Pienllas County roadway.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 6:40 PM on County Road 611, north of 58th Avenue. A Ford E150 van driven by a 61-year-old man from Kingston Springs, Tennessee, was traveling northbound when the pedestrian stepped into its path.

Despite being transported to a local hospital, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the van was uninjured in the collision.

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. It is unclear why the pedestrian attempted to cross the highway at that location, and whether factors such as visibility or speed played a role in the incident.
