CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Police arrested a Tampa man early Friday morning after he allegedly attempted to carjack a driver at a gas station.
The incident occurred just before midnight at the On The Fly gas station and convenience store on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard.
According to police, Brian L. Davis, 45, approached a driver who was pumping gas and asked for a ride to Tampa. When the driver refused, Davis allegedly attempted to force his way into the car, leading to a struggle. Davis then brandished a large piece of metal and used it as a weapon.

A friend of the driver came out of the store to intervene, at which point Davis reportedly pulled out a knife.
Police arrived quickly on the scene and arrested Davis. The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics.
Davis was charged with armed carjacking, aggravated assault, and criminal mischief. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
