TAMPA, Fla. – A Tampa man has been arrested for making online threats against the county courthouse, prompting a swift response from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Adam Scott Robitaille, 46, is facing charges after allegedly posting alarming comments on a social networking site on January 6th, suggesting an imminent threat to the courthouse.
A concerned citizen alerted the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) to the concerning posts, which Robitaille subsequently deleted.

Although Robitaille deleted the posts, authorities determined that the content created a credible threat, causing fear for the safety of courthouse employees, staff, and the general public.
HCSO detectives immediately launched an investigation, leading to an interview with Robitaille. During the interview, he admitted to making the posts but claimed they were made out of frustration.
Despite his explanation, Robitaille was arrested and charged with one count of Written or Electronic Threat to Kill or Do Bodily Injury.

Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized the importance of taking all threats seriously.
“Our community’s safety is our highest priority, and we take any threat—whether made in frustration or otherwise—extremely seriously,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I commend the concerned citizen who reported this and our detectives for acting swiftly to prevent what could have been a tragedy. This incident serves as a reminder that words have consequences, and our office will continue to be vigilant in protecting the people of Hillsborough County.”
The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
