Tampa International Airport Companies Look To Fill 1,500 Openings At Hiring Day Event

TAMPA, FL. – Tampa International Airport and its tenant partners are looking to fill more than 1,500 openings at the airport’s largest hiring day yet on Tuesday, Feb. 15.

Frontier Airlines alone is looking to hire 1,000 flight attendants for crew bases around the U.S. The carrier aims to expand its footprint in Tampa Bay following the opening of a crew base at TPA last May. Air services providers Global Aviation Services and Dnata are also looking to fill positions for British Airways, Edelweiss, Air Canada, and Cayman Airways.

More than 20 employers, including the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), will get to know applicants and some will even offer jobs on the spot to help TPA meet growing demand. Up to 80,000 daily passengers are expected to return to the skies during the spring break period which historically has been the airport’s busiest time of the year.

Participating partners are looking to fill a wide variety of full- and part-time jobs at shops, restaurants, rental car companies, ground handling services , and more. Available opportunities feature a range of skills and management levels. Hiring managers suggest applicants bring multiple copies of their resume along with their ID.

During 2021, the Airport served 18,115,213 passengers while it expects to serve 20.6 million passengers in Fiscal Year 2022 which runs from Oct. 1 – Sept. 30, 2022. That number is only 7 percent below pre-COVID traffic numbers.

“We’ve had great success with our past hiring events and we’re excited to continue growing our TPA family,” said Executive Vice President of Operations and Customer Service John Tiliacos. “Staffing up will help our business partners continue to meet growing demand and deliver the world-class service our passengers deserve.”

This is the third-ever Airport-wide Hiring Day at TPA, with the first two happening in August and November of 2021.
