TAMPA, Fla. – On Wednesday, August 7th at 8:30 a.m., Mayor Jane Castor, Tampa Councilman Luis Viera, and State Senator Jay Collins will join the local Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapters and representatives from Florida Gold Star Families in a flag-raising ceremony at Tampa City Hall.

The ceremony will honor the courage and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have received the Purple Heart, awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces wounded or killed in action.

As a further tribute to Purple Heart recipients, Old City Hall will be illuminated in purple from August 5th through 7th, beginning at sunset. The ceremony and the illuminated City Hall serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our military members and their families.
