TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Fire Rescue (TFR) responded to a house fire on the 1200 block of E. 108th Avenue in North Tampa at 9:24 PM on July 19, 2024. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke emanating from a single-story residence and received reports of three dogs trapped inside.
Firefighters immediately entered the smoke-filled home and discovered multiple electric scooters scattered throughout the residence. While conducting a search for occupants and pets, firefighters relocated several scooters to the front yard. One of the scooters unexpectedly caught fire, prompting a quick response from firefighters who extinguished the flames within minutes.

The blaze was brought under control within ten minutes of TFR’s arrival. Firefighters successfully located and rescued all three dogs from the residence, reuniting them with the grateful homeowner. None of the dogs sustained any injuries.
A secondary search of the residence confirmed that there were no other individuals inside. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters at the scene.
TFR Fire Investigators determined that the fire originated from one of the electric scooters. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential fire hazards associated with electric scooters and the importance of safe storage and charging practices.
