TAMPA, FL. – Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at the 7400 block of N. Florida Ave. at 4:25 am on Wednesday.
Officials say, Engine 7 was first on the scene and found a single-story commercial property with light smoke showing from the inside of the structure.
A primary and secondary search was completed with no occupants in the building. Firefighters made an interior attack on the fire and found it to be in the center of the structure.
The fire was under control within 15 minutes. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians reported at the scene.
Due to the location of the building, northbound and southbound lanes of N. Florida Ave were shut down between W. Patterson St. and W. Clifton St. for the safety of our first responders.
“Our fire investigator was on scene and the cause of the fire was due to electrical/ mechanical malfunction/ failure. The fire was classified as accidental,” said Tampa Fire Rescue in a statement.
