TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on the 3300 block of W. Hillsborough Ave. at 3:30 pm on Thursday.
First arriving crews found a two-story apartment with heavy smoke and flames showing from the rear of the structure.
The fire started on the balcony of a second-story apartment and traveled up into the attic. The incident command called for a second alarm for additional resources.

Firefighters used interior, ground, and aerial attacks to control the fire within 30 minutes. A primary and secondary search was completed, and no occupants were found inside the apartments. Two civilians were evaluated on the scene, and one firefighter was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
TFR fire investigators were on scene, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Eight apartments were affected. The American Red Cross was requested and worked with families from the affected residences.
