Tampa Fire Rescue: Aloft Hotel Midtown Fire Tampa Saturday Night

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a reported fire at the Aloft Hotel Midtown at 3650 Midtown Drive at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

When crews arrived they found the hotel in the process of evacuating the guests safely. Firefighters found heavy smoke originating from the second-floor laundry room of the six-floor hotel.

Firefighters located the source of the fire which was one of the clothes driers inside the room. The automatic sprinkler system worked properly and successfully isolated the fire. The fire was under control by 8:50.

Investigators from the fire marshal’s office determined the cause to be accidental.

Fire officials say hotel guests will be allowed to re-enter the hotel once the area is deemed safe to return.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.
