TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Convention Center is undergoing a transformation, blending art and technology to enhance the visitor experience. The center recently unveiled “Recurrence,” a dynamic art display that reflects the city’s connection to the waterfront, and announced a series of upgrades to modernize the facility.

“Recurrence,” the first of three planned art installations, is a wave-shaped sculpture made of aluminum channels and LED lights. Installed outside the Central and West Exhibit Halls, the artwork uses data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to visualize the daily tidal cycle of Hillsborough Bay and Davis Island. The changing colors and patterns of the LED lights mimic the ebb and flow of the tides, bringing a piece of Tampa’s natural environment into the convention center.

“Recurrence” was created by Luftwerk Studio, a Chicago-based art collective known for their innovative use of light and technology. The installation is part of a larger effort to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the Tampa Convention Center.

In addition to the new artwork, the center has partnered with Xpodigital to install modern LED walls throughout the building. These digital displays will provide event information, branding opportunities, and a more engaging experience for attendees.

Other improvements at the Tampa Convention Center include new LED walls to modernize the building and expand on digital signage for events.

The convention center is also undergoing a lighting upgrade in its exhibit halls, resulting in increased intensity and reduced energy consumption. These improvements follow a major renovation project completed in 2023, which included an expansion with 18 new waterfront meeting rooms and updates throughout the property.

The Tampa Convention Center continues to be a premier destination for events and meetings, offering stunning waterfront views, 600,000 square feet of event space, and state-of-the-art amenities. With these ongoing improvements, the center is solidifying its position as a leader in the convention industry.
