TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning have bolstered their offensive depth with the addition of veteran forward Cam Atkinson, signing him to a one-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of $900,000, announced General Manager Julien BriseBois today.
Atkinson, 35, is coming off a season with the Philadelphia Flyers where he notched 13 goals and 28 points in 70 games. Despite being on a rebuilding team, he displayed his offensive prowess by ranking fifth among all Flyers for even-strength goals (11) and shots on goal (175).

This signing reunites Atkinson with the team he faced in a thrilling 2019 Eastern Conference First-Round playoff series, where the Blue Jackets, led by Atkinson, stole a game from the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Lightning.
Prior to his stint in Philadelphia, Atkinson spent a decade with the Columbus Blue Jackets, carving his name into the franchise record books.
He owns the club record for career shorthanded goals and ranks second all-time in goals, points, even-strength goals, power-play goals, game-winning goals, and shots on goal.

Atkinson’s offensive prowess extends beyond the NHL. He’s a two-time Team USA participant at the Men’s World Championship, showcasing his scoring touch on the international stage.
This addition adds depth and experience to the Lightning’s forward group. Atkinson’s ability to score at even strength and his competitive spirit could prove to be a key piece for the Lightning as they chase another Stanley Cup title.
